Ground cover

Ground cover

A beautiful ground cover is often the highlight in an aquarium. There are some that have high demands and do not grow additional CO2. However, there are also species that have fewer requirements.

3 types of ground cover that grow in almost any tank.

Marsilea hirsuta – Australian clover fern

Clover-like ground cover which grows 2-10cm tall, forming a dense carpet.

Light: Medium
CO2: Not needed

Lilaeopsis brasiliensis – New Zealand grass

A grass-like cover plant, which in good light forms a dense carpet, growing 3-6cm high. It should be noted that this plant grows relatively slowly.

Light: Strong
CO2: Not needed

Micranthemum tweediei “Monte Carlo” – Tweedies pearl weed

A simple and undemanding ground cover, which forms a carpet over the ground. It grows 1-3cm in height.

Light: Medium
